In a significant shift within the radio industry, Michael Martin has officially stepped down from his position as the Brand Manager for KLLC, better known as Alice 97.3 in San Francisco, as of the end of 2025. This decision allows him to dedicate more of his time and energy to his national responsibilities as Senior Vice President of Programming and Head of Music Initiatives at Audacy.
Martin’s journey with the station began back in 2009 when he joined CBS Radio San Francisco. He played a pivotal role not only in programming KLLC but also in overseeing other stations, including the CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) format at 99.7 Now, KMVQ, and Rhythmic AC Q102.1, KRBQ, as well as Variety Hits 105.3 Dave-FM, KITS, and CHR 97.1 Amp Radio, KAMP in Los Angeles. His extensive experience prior to joining CBS/Audacy includes a notable tenure at Clear Channel, where he climbed the ranks from Music Director at 102.7 KIIS-FM in Los Angeles to Operations Manager. He also programmed various stations such as KYSR in Los Angeles and KIOI, KMEL, and KYLD in San Francisco.
Expressing gratitude for Martin’s leadership, Kieran Geffert, the Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Audacy San Francisco, praised him for his 16 years of service, highlighting the passion and dedication he brought to Alice and all associated brands. Geffert emphasized that Martin’s innovative programming vision, strong artist partnerships, signature events, and consistent leadership have significantly influenced Alice's growth over the years.
Jeff Sottolano, the Chief Programming Officer, also acknowledged Martin’s substantial contributions, noting that he has been instrumental to the success of multiple San Francisco brands for nearly twenty years. Under Martin’s guidance, KLLC, KMVQ, KITS, and KRBQ achieved high ratings, and he was responsible for bringing renowned artists like Justin Bieber, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, and John Mayer to the vibrant San Francisco music scene. Sottolano extended his thanks to Martin for his invaluable impact on the brand’s success.
As the industry watches closely, Audacy plans to share updates regarding the future leadership of KLLC’s programming in the days ahead.
