A tense and urgent search is underway in the Australian bush for a mother who has mysteriously vanished.
Authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate 41-year-old Trisha Graf, who disappeared from the secluded town of Andamooka, South Australia. This case has escalated into a major crime investigation as her disappearance remains shrouded in uncertainty.
Trisha was last spotted driving on Dunstan Drive in Andamooka at approximately 2 a.m. on December 12, after visiting a friend in the town's northwestern region. Earlier that evening, she had enjoyed time with this friend at the Roxby Downs Hotel. Tragically, during their drive home, they encountered an accident when their vehicle collided with a kangaroo.
By midday on the same day she went missing, both her partner and her friend began to grow concerned and initiated a search for her. Their efforts led them to discover her 2012 Ford Territory, bearing the license plate S254BCX, abandoned on a dirt mound near the Blue Dam, situated east of Andamooka. Authorities believe the car may have been left there due to damage from the earlier collision with the kangaroo.
Despite multiple searches conducted by police, State Emergency Service (SES) teams, and even community volunteers, no trace of Ms. Graf has been found. The initial ground and aerial reconnaissance yielded no results, prompting a more extensive search by police divers at the Blue Dam.
Teams from various police units, including those from the Far North and Port Augusta, along with the Missing Persons Section and Polair, have joined in the effort, but all attempts so far to locate Trisha have ended without success.
Another search operation took place recently, and starting Wednesday, officers will also begin door-to-door inquiries in the Andamooka area.
Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke, who oversees the Major Crime Investigation Branch, expressed serious concerns for Trisha’s safety. "Since Trisha was last seen, we have undertaken significant investigative measures and conducted numerous thorough searches in hopes of finding her," he stated.
He added, "The discovery of her flip-flops near her vehicle raises alarms. We would typically expect to find her nearby if she had just wandered off for a brief period. This next phase in our investigation is crucial as it allows us to allocate more specialized resources aimed at uncovering what has happened to Trisha and ultimately locating her."
